The Bible declares, “I have set before you life and death… now choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19). Recent news of Ireland’s mother and baby homes, where nearly 800 babies died at St Mary’s, Tuam, and 9,000 across decades, breaks our hearts. These homes, run by religious orders, failed to protect the vulnerable, leaving a legacy of sorrow.

God calls us to do better. The tragedy of these homes, now closed, reminds us why we oppose abortion and champion life. Every baby deserves a safe haven—a place of love, care, and hope. In Jesus, we find the ultimate refuge (Psalm 46:1), and through His Church, we can offer practical help to mothers and children in crisis. Today, no child should face neglect or death because of shame or hardship.
