The Holy Spirit is a person. He is a part of the Holy Trinity. He is an active force in the life of all Christians. Without His ministry Christians are powerless and fruitless.

1. The Holy Spirit the person

He is given a name:-

In John 14:26 He is called the comforter.

In John 14:17 He is called the Spirit of Truth

He has attributes of personality.

He will guide us into all truth John 16:13

He will bring to our remembrance certain things. John 14:26

He glorifies Christ John 16:14

He seals us until the day of redemption Ephesians 4:30

He heals our infirmities and intercedes for us Romans 8:26-27

He has appeared on Earth

Matthew 3:16

He is rational

1 Corinthians 12:7-11; 1 Corinthians 2:7-10

He has personal characteristics

2. The Holy Spirit is God

He is called God

Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19

He has divine attributes

He is eternal Hebrews 9:14

He is all wise 1 Corinthians 2:10

He is present everywhere Psalms139:7

He performs divine acts

He was active in creation Genesis 1:2

Jesus casts out devils in His name

 

3. The Holy Spirit is active

He Glorifies Christ John 16:14

He convicts John16:18

He regenerates John 6:63

He commissions Acts 13:2

He empowers Acts 1:8; Matthew 10:19-20

He produces fruit Galatians 5:22-23

 

4. The Holy Spirit is misunderstood

He is misinterpreted as a dove Matthew 3:16

He is misinterpreted as a literal ghost
