Here at Born Again Christians, our hearts are set on following Jesus and to anchor our faith in His Word. Scripture urges us to test all teachings with discernment (1 John 4:1), seeking truth with humility and love.

Todd White, the evangelist behind Lifestyle Christianity, inspires many with his bold street preaching, claims of healings, and story of redemption from atheism.

Yet, concerns about his theology and practices, highlighted by apologist Mike Winger and discernment ministry LongforTruth1, call us to examine his ministry prayerfully.

My article explores these issues from a biblical perspective, intending not to divide but to unify believers in their pursuit of Christ's truth.

Theological and Practical Aspects

Todd White’s sermons frequently focus on supernatural power and living like Jesus, who ignites a passion for sharing the gospel. Unfortunately, I find that troubling patterns emerge upon closer examination.

His widely publicised “leg-lengthening” healings have been exposed as manipulative techniques, raising doubts about their validity (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Early teachings suggest that believers can live sinlessly or that Jesus’ death primarily affirms human worth by shifting focus from repentance to God’s glory (Romans 3:23; 1 Corinthians 1:31).

White’s connections to prosperity gospel figures like Kenneth Copeland and New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) leaders further prompt caution, as these movements can elevate personal revelation over Scripture’s authority (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Mike Winger, through BibleThinker, addresses these in videos like “A Warning to the Church about Todd White” (April 2025), warning that White’s focus on miracles and self-empowerment risks distorting the gospel’s core, the cross (Galatians 1:8).

LongforTruth1, a YouTube channel dedicated to discernment, critiques White’s assertion of never lying since salvation, highlighting exaggerated testimonies that erode trust (Proverbs 12:22). Their work reminds us to carefully weigh teachings, seeking clarity for the sake of Christ’s body.

Recent Allegations and the Call for Accountability

In April 2025, Winger shared an open letter from former Lifestyle Christianity staff, alleging manipulation, embellished stories, and controlling leadership by White.

These claims suggest he deflects critique by casting himself as a victim, contrary to the humility Scripture demands of leaders (1 Peter 5:3).

LongforTruth1 has also examined White’s “words of knowledge,” noting instances where prophetic claims falter, raising questions about their source (Deuteronomy 18:22).

While White’s 2020 repentance for not emphasizing sin enough was encouraging, critics observe that his message still heavily relies on sensational experiences, urging believers to keep testing his fruit (Matthew 7:20).

A Biblical Path of Discernment

Jesus cautioned us about false teachers, urging us to know them by their fruit (Matthew 7:15–20). White’s passion for souls is commendable, but sincerity must bow to Scripture’s standard (Acts 17:11).

Winger and LongforTruth1’s exposés are not calls to condemn but invitations to study White’s teachings ourselves.

Do his sermons exalt Christ’s finished work, or do they risk glorifying personal power?

Does his leadership reflect 1 Timothy 3:1–7’s qualifications, or do allegations point to deeper concerns?

As believers, we’re called to pray earnestly for those who may stray (James 5:16), correct gently where needed (Galatians 6:1), and pursue truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

If White’s messages stir faith but lack biblical grounding, we can glean what aligns with Scripture while staying rooted in sound teaching.

Sharing these concerns with our church family fosters wisdom and guards against division (Proverbs 15:22). Our aim is not to tear down but to build up the body, keeping Jesus at the center.

United in Christ’s Truth

Todd White’s ministry sparks debate; some applaud his boldness, while others, like Winger and LongforTruth1, warn of deception.

For born-again Christians, our compass is God’s Word, not any preacher’s charisma.

Let’s test White’s claims prayerfully, seek counsel from trusted believers, and hold fast to Christ alone (1 Corinthians 3:11).

Discerning together, we grow in faith, unified in our love for Jesus and His truth.
