When we think about leaving a legacy, most people picture something the world can measure—money in the bank, a name people remember, buildings with plaques on the wall, or influence in politics and public life. Yet the Word of God measures legacy differently. Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV). A true legacy is not what we accumulate for ourselves, but what the Lord works in us and through us as we walk with Him.

I was walking home from the store the other night with my son. It was one of those real Scottish storms—rain coming sideways, wind pushing against us every step. My boy doesn’t talk much with words; he’s autistic and non-verbal. But he talks with his hand. As soon as we stepped out into that weather, he reached up and grabbed mine and held on tight. Three young lives—Cora, Dawson, and Callan—were taken, and a father’s world was shattered in a single afternoon. I have to admit I was a bit out of the loop with all that has been happening on the beaches of Britain these past few months. Now that I have subscribed to Calvary Chapel Magazine, I am catching up on the reports of believers being baptised in public. It started small. Back in June at Jennycliff near Plymouth there were about twenty-eight. Then on the fifth of September at Bigbury-on-Sea in Devon the number grew to one hundred and seventy. And just recently, on the tenth of October at Bridlington, somewhere around five hundred and fifty people were baptised in the North Sea.

A word after the Flydubai flight that almost fell
Now my friends, let me tell you what happened this morning. Flydubai flight FZ1073 left Dubai for Tel Aviv. There were about 174 people on that plane, including 27 little children. Almost all of them were Israelis. They thought they were just going home.
