I am a Scotsman living in the United Kingdom. I sat prayfully and watched Benjamin Netanyahu stand before the United Nations. I wasn’t surprised as I watched row after row of delegates get up and walk out. Israel counted seventy-seven countries gone from the hall. Outside, crowds raged against the Jewish people. Inside, empty seats. And the world called it virtue.

Now look at this with me, looking at these verses for you Bible-strong folk; we read Paul stayed a good while in Corinth. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

A Warning from Philippi
Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. A simple look at Jeremiah 31:9
Now look at Jeremiah 31:9. I was reading it in the CSB and I came across a word that is not in my usual NKJV. The word is wadis. So I went to the Blue Letter Bible, and I looked at the Hebrew, and I compared a few other translations. What I found is a beautiful picture of God as a Father, leading His people home.

Now I want us to look at Acts chapter 12. Herod has already killed James. When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he took Peter also. Peter is in prison, chained between two soldiers, with guards at the door. And the church is praying. Prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

A simple look at the trades in Acts — and at 1 Corinthians 3:10
Now I want you to look with me at something very practical in the book of Acts. We meet two ordinary working men. One is Simon the tanner in Joppa. The other is Paul the tentmaker in Corinth. Some folk put those two jobs together as if they were the same thing. They were not. The Greek makes that plain. And then, if you follow it through, you come to a beautiful picture in 1 Corinthians 3. The Lord Jesus, who worked with His hands, became the Master Builder of the church.

Now friends, I want us to look at this with open Bibles as I share some scriptures and honest prayerful hearts. The murder of two little boys is not complex history. It is sin and pure evil. And the church of Jesus Christ ought to say so without stammering.

You know friends, we are living in exciting days. I know they can also feel heavy. But Jesus never told us to wring our hands. He told us to watch, and then He told us to look up.
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28)
That is where I want your heart to rest. Not on the buildings going up on the Scottish hills. Not on the names of world leaders. Not on the latest video that kept you awake. On Jesus. He is coming for His Church.
