Folks, Israel is voting again, and many of us who love the Jewish people and take the Bible seriously are asking, “From a biblical ethos, which direction lines up better with what God says about life, family, and the Jewish nation?”

The parties that have been part of (or aligned with) Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud-led right-wing bloc are Likud itself, Religious Zionism (led by Bezalel Smotrich), Otzma Yehudit (led by Itamar Ben-Gvir), Shas, and United Torah Judaism. These lists have formed the core of the current governing coalition.

What the Bible Says First

Before we look at any party, we must remember what the Scriptures teaches plainly:

Every life is precious because God formed us in the womb. “You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5).

Marriage is one man and one woman, as God designed it from the beginning (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6).

God has a unique purpose for the Jewish people and the land of Israel (Genesis 12:1-3; Romans 11). Blessing them is part of God’s heart.

No political party is perfect. None of them will bring in the kingdom. But we can still ask which direction better protects these biblical priorities.

How These Parties Line Up

The religious and right-wing parties in Netanyahu’s bloc generally stand closer to traditional biblical values on life and family than the more secular, centrist lists.

On the unborn: Religious Zionism’s Bezalel Smotrich has openly called Israel’s current abortion rules a “license to kill fetuses.” Shas and the other religious parties have historically resisted further liberalisation of abortion. In a country where abortion is already relatively accessible, these parties have been the ones pushing back against expanding it. That matches the biblical view that the child in the womb is a human life.

On marriage and family: These parties want to keep marriage under the authority of the Orthodox rabbinate. They oppose civil marriage and the legal redefinition of marriage to include same-sex couples. Shas, United Torah Judaism, Religious Zionism, and Otzma Yehudit have consistently defended the traditional Jewish understanding of marriage. This lines up with the clear teaching of Scripture that marriage is between one man and one woman.

On Israel’s security and Jewish character: Likud, Religious Zionism, and Otzma Yehudit take a strong stand for Israel’s security, for Jewish settlement in the biblical heartland, and for preserving Israel as a Jewish state. From a biblical perspective, standing with the Jewish people and their right to live securely in the land God gave them is important (Genesis 12:3).

The more secular and centrist parties (such as Yashar under Gadi Eisenkot and B’Yachad under Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid) may sound reasonable on security or economic issues. But they have moved toward civil marriage, equal legal recognition for same-sex couples, and have not made the protection of the unborn a priority. That puts them at odds with the plain teaching of Scripture on life and marriage.

A Word of Balance

These right-wing and religious parties are not “Christian parties.” They are Jewish parties operating in a Jewish state. Some of their policies (especially certain Haredi exemptions from military service) create real tensions inside Israel. Christians do not have to agree with every detail of their platforms.

What we can say is this: on the issues that matter most to a Bible-believing heart—the sanctity of human life from conception and the definition of marriage as God created it—the parties aligned with Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc have been the ones standing closer to the biblical position.

What Should We Do?

Pray. Pray for the people of Israel. Pray that the unborn will be protected. Pray that Jewish hearts will turn to their Messiah, Jesus. And if you have a vote, vote according to the values of God’s Word rather than the slickest messaging or the strongest personality.

The Lord still holds Israel in His hands. Our ultimate hope is not in any election result, but in the God who keeps His promises.

Blessings in Jesus.
