At BornAgainChristians.org, we stand with our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those facing persecution. The recent conflict between India and Pakistan, with missile strikes and a ceasefire on May 10, 2025, reminds us to pray for peace and protection for Christians in both nations. Hebrews 13:3 calls us to “remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them.” The story of Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian, inspires us to pray and advocate for the persecuted.
Asia Bibi’s Courage
In 2009, Asia Bibi, a Christian mother in Pakistan, was accused of blasphemy after drinking from a cup shared with Muslim coworkers. She boldly said, “I believe in Jesus Christ, who died for the sins of mankind.” This led to a death sentence in 2010. 1 John 4:15 says, “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him.” Asia’s faith shone brightly.
For eight years, she faced death row. Christians worldwide, including our ministry, prayed and protested. In 2014, I wrote about Asia Bibi on BornAgainChristians.org, calling for prayer and support, and we supported the witness event in London outside the Pakistan High Commission through prayer. In 2018, Pakistan’s Supreme Court acquitted her, and in 2019, she found safety in Canada. In 2020, Asia urged Pakistan’s leaders to protect Christian girls from forced conversions. Her story shows that God answers prayer.
Christians in Pakistan
Pakistan’s Christians, about 4 million, face severe persecution. Blasphemy laws, like Section 295-C, are misused to jail believers. In 2025, cases like Shazia’s show this continues. Mobs attack churches, and Christian girls face abduction. Yet, believers stay strong. Bishop Samson Shukardin said in 2024, “Jesus is stronger than persecution.”
Christians in India
In India, 28 million Christians have more freedom. Bible colleges thrive in places like Kerala. But Hindu nationalist policies bring challenges. Anti-conversion laws in states like Uttar Pradesh lead to attacks on churches. Still, Indian Christians worship boldly. We pray for their safety.
Prayer and Advocacy
The India-Pakistan ceasefire gives hope, but Christians need our support. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 urges us to pray for leaders so we can live in peace.
At BornAgainChristians.org, we’re praying for:
- · Pakistan: End to blasphemy laws, safety for believers, courage for churches.
- · India: Protection from violence, freedom to worship, unity in the church.
We advocate by sharing stories like Asia’s. Her freedom came through global pressure. Groups like Open Doors and International Christian Concern help us raise awareness.
You can join us by praying, writing to leaders, or supporting these ministries.
